We were hired to design a modern family home on the existing property, which was large enough to allow a new building site outside of the floodplain. The client wanted the architectural aesthetic to reflect the neighborhood, but wanted a more open, airy home interior that captured views of the garden.
Aging-in-place was also important, so a potential for one-story living was incorporated into the design. The resulting home perfectly blends into the neighborhood while providing a comfortable, peaceful interior that is furnished with beloved objects from the former home. With a tight budget and the wish to build a sustainable structure, we accomplished both in time for another gardening season.
